Have a buddy who just asked me about heat exchanger repair on a Weatherking rooftop unit.
It is breached and needs repaired / replaced. He heard from the company that they are going to have someone come out and "wrap the heat exchanger" to repair it.
He has been in the field for quite some time, and is very knowledgeable regarding most any aspect of our field. I personally have never heard of heat exchanger wrapping as a repair - and neither has he. He called me up wondering if I ever had - but I said I would make a post on here to find out.
We're trying to even figure out how that would work - since wrapping usually involves insulating something. Unless it is a very heat conductive material - you are removing the heat exchange capabilities of the heat exchanger!
I have also posted this in the Pro Technical forum - wasn't sure where the best spot would be.
