Had an AAON system installed. That system was yanked out and a Trane conventional type system was installed. I don't know if I agree with this for a locker room set-up.

I have been to comfortsite, but still having trouble with the configured components. I believe this unit has a return duct into the space along with an economizer. It also has a exhaust fan field installed to the unit (I think field installed) I want to know the design specs or why was this added to the roof top unit. If it is to exhaust some of the fresh air from the economizer why not just control that damper down? Perhaps it has no damper and the controlling is easier through this exhaust? Help me out if you can. Thanks

I believe power exhaust is often used to help control building pressure especially when economizers or fresh air make up is used. Local codes may require it for air turnover requirements.

Yes it occurred to me that this (exhaust fan) would maintain a negative pressure in the locker room while providing fresh air.

I do prefer the AAON system better. Just pulling all that moisture through the unit seems to more corrosive,

I believe it also exhausts the warm are in the space to make the economizer more efficient as a first stage of cooling. not to mention the stink of that locker room lol.
