Is it ok to pan floor joists in a crawl space for supply duct for, a short distance? From the air handler, through the floor and about 6 ft. of panned floor joists to main trunk?

Run duct work.

Absolutely not. Hire a pro before there is structural damage.

I was wondering about the safety factor, on the supply side, since the joist are combustible. In this case the 2x8 joists (2 wide) are panned on the bottom and sealed with mastic intended for return but it would work out better to make a small change and use it for the supply.

It violates code to do it.

anyone ever notice the ductwork in cracker barrel restaurants? I'm not a tin man but it almost looks like the supplys are panned either that or maybe the pan is hiding flex?
