I've approved a quote to replace my current 32-year old Carrier natural gas furnace with a 4-Ton Carrier 58CVA Furnace to be installed along with the Carrier systxccuid01-b Infinity controller. I'm keeping my old AC coils and outdoor consenser unit (Trane 10 SEER) at this time. They'll clean the coils if needed tomorrow. I trust my installer and have checked on him so that's a key component of the best install. So my question is for Carrier Infinity 58CVA owners. I want to know what to expect and what I might not expect with a new install of this furnace model. I've been used to one loud blower speed, a pilot light, a non-standard filter I had to wrestle with and moderate gas bills in the winter as well as a fairly dry house. I went through an air balancing exercise with the installer and they're going to help me seal up any simple improvements with the 12 room ducts I have in my 2000 sq ft two-story home. I have a good pull of air from three intake vents downstairs (about six feet in length at the floor by 12 inches high) and one intake vent upstairs which has enough pull to hold a piece of paper when system is on now.
With having the Infinity furnace and controller installed and ready to run as of this time tomorrow, what can I do that I couldn't in the past? What do I need to consider? I've heard really good reviews about the controller and about the furnace. I'm a little dissapointed not to be getting that Amana Stainless Steel heat exchange as it looks amazingly durable, but I think in the 32 years since my current furnace was installed that things should have improved a lot no matter what heat exchanger I get. This one is aluminized steel I believe.
I'll take any information, suggestions, concerns, praise, critique, etc that you Carrier Infinity owners (especially the Infinity 80 Model 58CVA owners!).
So share your stories and tales, your thoughts and feel feel to ask any questions!
