Have an old Carrier Condensing unit. Our rep. says they don't make a low ambient kit for it?? Hard to beleive. Any of you old time carrier guys can assist??

M# 38E012500 SER# P15833 208 3 PH Has two 1PH motors.

I know I can rig some thing but would like to go with motor master if possible. Would anyone know if it was used in this unit. Has original motors!!!!:ghug:

I was going to refit it but I did some checking on carrier site. Our rep told us its obsolete.

I found unit on their site. Calls for a Motor master and fan Pressure switch on second fan. Also TD on LP control.

I'll order parts in morning.

Thank all you guys for your input!!

Carrier motor master works good, but expensive.Penn makes the P-66 pressure actuated fan control(I have used and like this control) ICM also makes a good control(ICM325hn) this is more of an eletronic control that senses liquid line temperature and adjusts fan speed. It is also good for sleeve and ball bearing motors. If money is the problem.you can use a fan cycle control.I don't care for them, they cause fluctuating pressures. Check local parts house,Motormaster is (as I think you know) sold at carrier dealer.

ICM also makes a good pressure switch bypass delay on make timer for low ambient startup ICM part# ICM1758.Only about $20.00 and works good.

P66 is on the way out, the replacement is the P266 I believe.

look at all options before forking out the cash for a p66

especially for equipment so old, they don't even make parts for it anymore

Just get an ICM single phase head pressure controller for each motor unless you want to control one of the motors with a high pressure fan control. Just be sure to install the sensor in the correct part of the coil and do not attach it to the LL. All my air to air units run year round. I have had good luck with the ICM and the price is not too bad.

Thanks guys for all of your input. Will probably go with a motor master.
