We don't really have dust that collects on coils here for some reason. The Microchannel sure does stand up to the salt, though. The only other condenser that handles the salt is the Trane Spinefin. Heatcraft is now using Microchannel on their refrigeration condensers, too.

+1 Hell yeah it does. It takes a long time to clean a filthy one. I had ten 5 tons side-by-side that we installed a year ago and it took a few hours to clean them thoroughly! That is when they finally signed a service agreement.

Why don't they collect dust on your car? It looks like the same thing. I know those don't get cleaned annually.

I don't follow. Why don't microchannels collect dust on my car?

I know u don't pump the unit down alot but I like to know I could if I. Want to. What about pumping down to see if the valve holds or if it is a weak Pumper?

I'm saying the condenser in front of your automobile radiator is a Microchannel. Have you ever cleaned it? I haven't. Lots of dust on the road. I wonder why they don't clog? I also wonder why the evap under the dash doesn't clog and most have no filter.

The movement of your car through the air is probably much more substantial than a condensor fan. The auto cooling system and hvac system is probably much more forgiving than a typical residential/commercial a/c unit. I bet that auto evaps get plugged, but I have never experienced it either. they have to get plugged, But nobody cleans them and when they blow or leak, they are replaced. Maybe?

I'm not saying comparing a AC unit with microchannel vs a auto radiator is right or wrong, but if you do, think about it in terms of run hours. A car with 100,000 miles has seen 2,500 run hrs if you assume 40 mph as an average speed. How long does it take for your AC unit to get 2500 run hrs?
Isn't the key looking at the fin spacing?
