Need your help
Been troubleshooting a Hydronic Heating Boiler. Raypak Hi Delta H3 050 2B.

Kept finding unit down in the mornings showing one of two things "Manual High Limit" or "Flow Switch/Pump faillure". Unit would reset and starts as normal then fail again at some point in the day, long story short I found the pump motor tripping on thermal overload, with no flow through the boiler it would hit High Limit in a matter of seconds, if it tripped during overrun period it would come in as Flow Switch faillure. Local distributer wants to sell me a motor/pump assembly for $2,000, I can get motor rebuilt locally but this requires Boiler to be down for two days minimum, I'm looking to simply replace the motor, trhen get this one rebuilt for a spare, any help appreciated. Location is Los Angeles

I have found a few pumps doing this, but not on a boiler. Found that somebody before had opened circuit setter wide open, this caused pump to move too much water through it over amping the motor, (from the lack of head on the pump). Was motor over amping?

Pump Motor was being made by Emerson for Raypak, so my searches (using nameplate data) always brought me back to OEM.
Have since found after market solution at approximately one quarter the cost, once I get it swapped out I'll have motor rewound locally and put it on the shelf as a spare.
This experience reminded me that sometimes we have to simply watch and wait for the equipment to tell it's story.

Yes I use AAA for motors a lot. Once I get this one out and properly identified i'll just get it repaired/rewound at Arbuckle (in Santa Monica). As it is coupled to top half of pump I purchaed the whole assembly, this will speed up the changeout and give me a spare of both components, thanks, have a good weekend.
