I found a licensed installer I like, so now I'm deciding on which furnace to put in. The options in my price range are...

ducane CG95CC080V16C single stage 95%
ducane CG95TC080V16C two stage 95%
goodman gmh95 single stage 95%
goodman gmv95 two stage 95%
rheem rgrc single stage 95%

Any thoughts on the above models? which would be more reliable? more efficient?

I'm just putting in a furnace, no ac. The goodman seems to have the better warranty. The GMV95 gets good marks from what I've read (for the money), except this is for a historic two family and I really would like an 'old timey' looking thermostat and most of the two stage thermostats i've seen are too modern. If I'm not going to use a two stage thermostat is there any reason to go with the two stage models? Or can someone recommend an antique looking two stage thermostat?

I don't care about comfort too much. I care about efficiency (to the degree that it's cost effective), and reliability (to the degree that it's cost effective). I'm looking for a toyota not a lexus.

If you don't care about comfort and want an old looking stat, I'd just stay single stage. Or the GMH which is a 2 stage that can't be properly controlled like a 2 stage. It only uses a single stage stat.

We've sold a lot of the Allied furnaces (Lennox division that makes Concord among others) and had good results from them. Tend to go that route rather than Goodman for "affordable" units. They have a 10 year parts warranty if you register it.
