I am 6 mos. in a 1yr. nite school. So far I have straight A's.I have been giving resumes out to all the local businesses and getting no response. On one I made a personal visit and was told to come back when I finish school.I really want to get a start in the industry so I can start applying what I have learned so far.We are moving so fast in school that I am worried I will forget past material as I am trying to remember the new stuff.I was thinking on calling co. back and asking if he is serious to hire me,if I could run with his guys on saturdays(my day off from full time job)that I would work for no pay just the chance to learn and get some exp.,this way it would benifit me and him in the long run by seeing my character before hiring me.I just dont understand everyone wants experiance but dont want to give a chance to gain some.I am a good employee and have been at my present job 12 yrs but there is no future for me there.what do you guys think.

I don't think too many companies would be eager to use someone who's still in school. Part of the problem is that most of them just have an on-call person on the weekends too.

If you're an A student, I wouldn't worry to much about forgetting stuff. I know you're chompin at the bit, but just keep your nose to the grindstone a little longer and when you're done you'll see plenty of job offers if you maintain the A average.

Send resume's and make visits in the spring
next year when contractors might be a bit
more interested in hiring at that time
