I have been wearing a Rolex Submariner for about 15 years.
I have had it serviced and cleaned a couple of times.

G-Shock was my best watch when I was running around in the field.

Wolf in the big R.........nice.
A timex iron man, I think that was the name.
Bought it for when I was coaching soccer, for 8 years.
My son borrowed it when he went to Kuwait awhile back cause he didn't want to mess up his good one.
He brought it back and it still runs great, band never broke either, cost about $30 but that was many years ago.
But I don't wear watches at work, they screw up my life.

I don`t own a watch. I don`t give a s--t what time it is.
I think i`m living on borrowed time any way.

You work in a $2500 dollar watch? That's more than my vans worth.

Odd this subject comes up!
I wear a watch that clips onto your belt loop. This last watch lasted me almost 5 months, glass broke out of the front today somehow. I really would love to find a reasonably priced watch that'll last.
Maybe someday.

That's ok about the van. it's a pos 93' and the wifey/bookkeeper says I can't buy a new one unless I sell a property.
I've personnally never understood the concept of paying that much for a watch. I have a few nice ones and I take them to the high end shops to get serviced and see the price tags. It amazes me that people will spend thousands of dollars on a timepiece.
I guess it all boils down to diposable income.
Enjoy it if you've got it to burn. I'm not jelous.

Perhaps they were bought when prices were a little more moderate.
Perhaps they were a gift.
Perhaps an inheritance.
Maybe E bay.
You presume a great deal.

They are nice, I like the Submariner and the Sea Dweller...
I can't function without a watch, and if for some odd reason, I don't have it on, I'm constantly staring at my wrist :D

I'm not putting you down. Even if you paid full price it's your money and and you can do with it what you want, and if you can afford a Rolex that's great, if it was a gift or good deal that's even better.
I'm presuming nothing. Just calling it as I see it. My jewler is a Rolex dealer and when I go in and see watches that cost more than my 1st house it amazes me.

thanks guys, good info. I had a timex ironman it walked away. Sat it atop my tool cart, got called away in the middle of washing up, came back and no watch.
OK how many of you have lost, destroyed, your cell phones? I have a plumber friend who buried his, and a farmer friend who bailed his!

Some might say that spending money on making your Camaro faster while having to drive a "POS" work van is strange logic.
Life is pretty much the same song for everybody.....
however,we all hear the music a little differently.

Ran over one with the truck, stepped on one, dropped one off a building.

I have one one also, it helps because my arm is not long enough to be able to read a wrist model.
Mine is a Colibri, it has a timer (up and down), compass and alarm. it makes life easer on the eyes and has lasted 1/2 a year so far. Cost around $45 and I had to order it.

The timex seems like a good idea with the stopwatch so you can clock the meter if you need, cant do that with the phone

My best watch (for work) was a $5 plastic p.o.s with Lg LED #'s and only told the time. I had that thing for about 2 yrs and it was so scratched up you could hardly see what tome it was!! One day I climed out of an attic or crawl space (don't remember) and it wasn't on my wrist anymore and I could NOT find that thing!! http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/contrib/corky/corkysm54.gifI've never had one last as long again!!http://mindscraps.com/s/contrib/sarge/Disappointed_anim.gif

When I was turning wrenches, Walmart special with stop watch. When you beat the crap out of it, you don't mind. I don't know how many times I dropped those suckers in the bilge.
Now, I wear a gold Pulsar. I've had it for several years now.
I'm in the boat with not spending money on watches. I'd rather spend it on golf clubs and greens fees.

had a "big" (heavy) Nextel from work. i always wore it on the small of my back. co goes to the little (lightweight) Nokias. so i'm at a job and i need to expel some waste (poop). i walk into the stall and flush the toilet, turnaround and drop my pants and i hear PLOP.......uh oh. it's in the toilet with water rushing all over this thing. had to be under water for 4-5 seconds before i got it out of there. i dried it out and it worked fine, the display was shot but the phone worked....they had given me the new phone 2 hours earlier...duh.

G-Shock is the toughest. Mine's still on the same battery after 6 years.
A few years ago, I had a brand new Motorola cell phone with the plastic holster on my side when I was sitting on the dock at the lake. I got up and the holster snagged on the dock rail and flipped the phone straight up out of the holster and right out into the lake :(
I threw a 250# pull magnet on a cable into the lake a few times hoping the batteries would be attracted to it, and sure enough, up it came. I dried it out for a couple of days, and it actually worked for a few days, but then it expired. Took it in to have it repaired and they said:
"Sir, it appears that someone has spilled something into this phone."
NO SH*T?????

You can do the stop watch with some phones, mine has it, but it's a PITA to get to. Only 150 button clicks away.
I've never broke a cell phone yet, ripped many-a leather cases and other doo-dad clips off of them though.
I started carying my phone inside my pocket to protect it and keep it from falling off in a bad spot.
