Hey Senior Tech I have to go with you on that Ol Roy is phenomenal he also plays Banjo and several brass instruments.
Another guy to through in is Al Kooper his version of Season of the Witch on the Super Session Album was outstanding. I think he plays with Jeff Beck on one side of the Album can’t remember whom he plays with on the other side.

I guess I am just old but most of these guys mentioned I have never heard of. How about some of you guys listing the bands they play with, of course I probably won’t know who they are either.

Cant forget Paul Gilbert and Bruce Boulliet of Racer X.
Me and Paul shared a bill in 1983 at a party in Derry, Pa
before anyone heard of him. He was 15 and could nail Van Halen note for note. He was F#####N AWESOME. I can always say now that Paul Gilbert opened up for my band. Oh to be young again.... :D

Classical, who is Hoyt Axton? Where should I have heard of him? His discography on the official site had alot of tunes I know. He looks like Joe Negri, another great guitarist (jazz.)

Hoyt Axton was a big man played primarily country he also did some acting. He was in a couple of episodes of Bonanza and Played a guy that was promised to Jennifer on WKRP.
His Guitar style was sort off a slide he played with a metal tube and ran it up and down the neck of the Guitar.
I think it may have been the prelude to the steel guitar.
I am not a musician so the terms may be wrong but that is what I know of him.

I think we are all forgetting the man that made most off these great electric guitar players possible Les Paul.

I will name two others that most of you won't know and probably have never listened to. Jose Greco and Charro yea the hooce coochi girl. They play Classical guitar mostly Flamenco which takes amazing dexterity and speed of the fingers. It must be exceptionally precise no room for error like in most rock music.

Anybody ever see the movie Crossroads with that kid that played in those Karate movies, if so who was the guy that played the guitar for him during the showdown with the devil. Now that dude could play.

Still playing...Branson and has a new album coming out, most of you may not remember Hee Haw...I would wager to say in a head to head he could burn the strings off before most of those mentioned here...

Back in the 60's when I played professionally, I had his album "Lightning fingers of Roy Clark" and sat down to pick out his version of "12th Street Rag." I had to turn the speed down from 33 to 16 to hear the individual notes :D

People with short, stubby fingers aren't supposed to be able to play fast, but somebody forgot to tell him!!!
