There is some talk of Raters picking
up commercial work in the near future.
No formalized training has been scheduled
as yet.
While I am famililar with residential,
commercial is not an area that I have
experience in.
What would your suggestion be as to how to
educate ourselves?
I would like to tap into this field, but am
concerned about liability, and getting the
best training for my $.
Thanks

Steal guys who are already doing it, the controls on commercial RTU's are a lot more complicated than residential stuff.

Find the link here for the Trane Voyager Micro Controls & Relia Tel controls, go to Honeywell's website and download just about anything you can find on economizers and programable thermostats; esp the T7300 stat and W7459 economizer module .... its a start anyway

As Racer has said the controls are the major thing followed by the system. The principals are all the same as residential but a commercial tech has to look at an entire system as opposed to just a unit. Sometimes the system components are remotely located. Good training programs can help make the transition a lot easier. Personally I've found the commercial/industrial considerably easier than that darned residential stuff, more space to work.
