I find myself on the computer alot LESS than usual. Time saver hah. Had dialup for years. The only prob is I had to upgrade pretty much my entire computer, in the first 3 hours (left it on) I got virus after virus, all kinds of probs. Had to get a firewall and all kinds of junk. Nice.. But damn this is fast now

At least run Zonealarm or Sygate firewalls. If you have an old 486 or higher , Smoothwall makes a great dedicated firewall server.

You'll find yourself online more now that you can cover much more area.

I leave mine on 24\7. I use Norton System Works and Internet Security and a router. No problems. Kills 99% of the pop ups too.
Don't open emails that you don't recognize. All kinds of nasties in spam email now.

Once you get cable you'll never go back. Pages open as fast as I can click.

I always leave my computer on and connected. I haven't had a virus for over a year. Nortons and Spybot do great.

Go to http://www.download.com and get Spybot, you'll be glad you did.

Funny thing is you've had DSL this whole time, you just don't have it configured properly... LOL :D
