Really? You really need to have a discussion with your employees on when to shut the f--k up. There is a lot of things i will say in the office, but man, in front of the customer.

Ditto.

I've got opinions on equipment and will offer them in a civil manner UNTIL someone buys something.

Once they've bought it, it's the best peice of equipment I've ever worked on.

Among techs, over beers or keyboards????

Yeah, that's when I get honest.

Isn't it funny how some people can get away with crap like that?

I'm constantly amazed at what a particular co-worker of mine can do and say and get away with it.

I'd have been out on my a$$ long ago saying and doing what he has.

I have never spoken to anyone from India for Carrier tech support in the over thirty five years I've been doing this. I have had great support from them over those years... I have heard they don't like jerks ... you're not a jerk by any chance ... are you?

no just don't like their tiered support when I call and on a job and I tell them I am a contractor and they ask me dumb questions then send me up the chain till I finally get somebody with knowledge and he can answerer my question in two minutes when I have been talking two three other dumb a$$es who were reading some dumb questions off their computer screen that probably dont even know any thing about fixing equipment for 45 min yes that pisses me off.

my carrier distributer is standard air and light. their tech support is un-match. simply the best. i have never heard of carrier tiered tech support. it must vary by location.
if they can't solve the issue on the phone they will come to the job site.

john and rick will get you off the roof.

but it is the same guy that went to one of my accounts on a service call

told the customer the condensate tank for the 3 500 hp steam boilers was not working
it was the electricians problem and left

of course that did not work and i had to go fix the float control or level control to the condensate return tank later that night:gah:

Sigler, sucks balls. (West coast, Totaline is no more) Last time I attempted a Carrier Tech support call, I asked the rep. if he was working in a machine shop! He said, "no, I am in a call center". I could barely hear the guy until I told him to forget it. I had several voicemails an hour later after finishing the job from a real tech.

thats the truth. Just glad we don't have to deal with the local commercial sales/service. If you have ever met them, then you would know.

Thats probably why they don't do tech support.

I dont make it a habit to say anything in the office i would not say in the customer's home.
somtimes a tech makes an off hand remark and it gets around via the other techs.

Totaline here is owned by Watsco. That happened about a year ago. Funny thing is their prices for parts are lower.

Carrier like the rest has cheapen down the quality of their equipment. I didnt know they still have tech support left, at Carrier Northeast they let go anyone with brains and replaced them with either an angry old woman or a young "dude" as clueless as one can be, I try to avoid them.

Since you sell Carrier I thought I would ask. I am new to HVAC, my company reps Carrier and I get asked whats the difference. I thought I would pose the question here as guys I worked with have the company jingle memorized and I was looking for an unbiased opinion. The general Mantra is Carrier along with Trane and Lennox are best in the industry but Carrier has some advantages. I will save you the company line because I am looking for what you all think of the Brand wars and whats the real deal. Thanks!

supertek65
08-26-2010, 06:27 PM
you should post a thread for that question
but i am sure you will get plenty of answers

for me
the stuff i work on carrier is good
air cooled chillers are good
i like the mcx or micro chanel coils

scrolls seem good

the screw chillers we have have been good!

they have always made a good wheel/ centrifugal

i think, and may be wrong?? their big chillers are not as efficient as trane, york chillers, could be wrong?

that being said

the carrier service here in kansas city

is absolutely

TERRIBLE!

IF YOU SELL A GOOD CUSTOMER A CARRIER AIR COOLED CHILLER AND THE CONDENSER FAN TAKES 6 MONTHS TO ARRIVE FROM THE FACTORY??

THE CUSTOMER MIGHT GET A LITTLE UPSET
ESPECIALLY IF THEY HAVE TO GO A MONTH WITH NO COOLING IN THEIR BUILDING AND HAVE TO RENT A TEMP CHILLER FROM TRANE:gah:
