Can anyone answer questions regarding copper ionized water vs. chemical treatment of cooling towers. Has anyone perfected the technology to be able to completely replace chemicals in a cooling tower with copper ionized water?
It sounds like a great idea if it worked.

If I were you, I would let someone else give it a try first if ya know what I mean.

I answered at your other thread posting regarding CU water treatment.

I have talked to the largest cooling tower emgineering company in Texas and they have used a copper ion system unlike anything they have ever seen. It has been on their cooling towers for over a year now and they have not had to add a drop of chemicals and it has saved them millions of gallons of water. They said the system does not eliminate the need to blow down the system completely but it does drop the need for blow down by 90 to 95%.

Will be interesting how the chillers come out with this treatment, we hae some really bad experience with severe tube sheet corrosion on some "chemical free" water treatment systems down here. And of course it is the quality of the steel in the tube sheet even though we don't hae issues on sites with consecutiely built chillers that used tradditional chemical treatment.

O.I.C.! chem.free. How much does 10,000 gal of Clorox cost?

"How much does 10,000 gal of Clorox cost?" In dollars or what is more important, the cost to our health and our childrens health from dumping millions of gallons of chemicals into our drinking water everyday. Our system does not eleminate the need for blow down but drastically reduces it by 90 to 95%. You do the math on the savings in wasted water chemicals and electricity. I am no tree hugger but anything that will help save our ever depleting supply of drinking water and the health of my children is worth a second look. I took that second look and this is a viable alternative that works and has been proven to work! The city of Dallas is in the process of implememting this chemical free solution! Wouldnt you have liked to know the geniuses behind the likes of google, you tube, microsoft, etc.. when they first came out with their multi billion dollar ideas? Would you imbrace their ideas and become rich like them or would you doubt first?

So is it saving the planet or chasing the bucks?

Why do you wake up every morning? Why do you drive to work every day, 5 days a week all through out the year? Do you do it for the money or are you doing it for some better end result. Does your position or proffession that you have and perform bring you money and work towards a greater good or just bring you more money? Why would you judge what I do when all I am doing is stating a fact. There is new device out there that is going to make our lives alot better and help save millions of wasted gallons of water and do away with pumping chemicals day after day into our drinking water, not to mention the back breaking pain of having to scrub and bore out the tubes and pipes of a cooling tower. You may think "but the chemicals we use are safe." Are they really? Who sais? The same company that approved aspartane ( proven to cause Multiple Schlerosis) to be a great use for a sugar substitute, or Sibutramine a new diet drug that is causing strokes and heart attacks.
