:anyone: I own a small non-insulated 700 sqr foot cabin in South Carolina that had a new 13 SEER Goodwin Heat Pump(model number is GPH13M21AB), put in it less than one year ago, as the old unit stopped working.
I am giving the cabin away to a church and building a brand new 2400 sqr ft home in it's place with open cell insulation blown into the whole house $$$. The church members are taking the cabin away and then insulating it for their use elsewhere.

With high efficiency windows and doors, and open cell insulation throughout the new house, is this 13 SEER model pretty much useless?

Should I scrap it and buy a more efficient model to get the government tax credit of $1500 and if so, what Brand, model and size should I purchase?

Thank You in advance as I have no idea what I should do.

If you are building a new house, you cannot get the tax credit; it is only for 'upgrading' to a new, supposedly higher efficiency unit.

Since your new home will be larger and tighter, you need to have a detailed heat calc performed, otherwise you could run into problems.
