I live in Arizona and used to do commercial maintenace/hvacr. Now I am entering in to new territory, Apartments. I have recently ran in to an issue. I have a condensate pan leaking/overflowing. I want to make sure the condensate line is clear, but it goes thru the wall of the air handler in the ceiling and I do not know where it goes after that. In the past, I have seen them drain thru an exterior wall or in to a sink drain and I do not see either application here. How can you find where the condensate line drains out at? This air handler is in the ceiling of an upper apartment at a two story complex. Any advise would be appreciated.:anyone:

Most likely drains to the unit below on first floor and tee's to drain. Verify first and be careful blowing out with nitrogen. Plug first floor cleanout or you might be cleaning up quite a mess. Also be patient blowing out, i've seen guys blow apart the PVC in the wall and not find out till first floor guy gets home from out of town. LOL

The "Galo Gun" which uses a co2 cartridge is a very effective tool for clearing condenste lines.

I agree with Labbie, if you are doing apartment and crackpad maintence a Gallo gun is your best friend. Take Air Flow's advice and make sure any cleanout tees are temporaly plugged.
