What a wierd year for hurricanes.
Ive lived in the Melbourne/Palm Bay, Florida area for 22 years and have never seen anything like this.
We havent cleaned up from Frances yet and now Jeanne is knocking on the door.
Boarded up the house again, got 4 day gas supply for the generator, enough food and water for 7 days, filled the LP tanks for the grill.
This is becoming too routine and like so many others Im getting a little tired.
Just spent the past 2 weeks working crazy hours helping people get their air back on and now it looks like we can start the whole thing all over again :(.

Now that Ive vented I feel much better:).

Life goes on.

People are being a little lackadaisical about prep down here. That’s not a good thing.

I was working beach side today and many of the people I spoke with said they are going to stay home and ride it out.

What a mistake.

Shes coming in just south of Fort Pierce.

We are supposed to get the heaviest winds being on the North side of the storm.

Power has been on and off for the past 30 mins.

Had a nice little nap.

Looks like a long night.

They said on the news that this is the first time since the 1880s that 4 hurricanes have hit Florida.

This all started when we moved my mother-in-law back here from Florida a few weeks ago.

Could it be a sign?

Took the storm panels (plywood) down yesterday.

No power yet but the generator is working fine.

Just got phone service back a few minutes ago along with my DSL, yippee:).

Biggest problem is the very large tree branch on my roof.

Yes, he was. He retired a few years ago, your question seems to indicate that you've heard his name before.

I lived in Melbourne for a few years during college. Just north of Lake Washington Rd.

Good to see you made it OK don. Hope the plywood drills are over soon.

What took down that tree 75-80 MPH winds, or did you get the 110-120s.

We had 95mph sustained winds with gusts around 110-? mph.

Dont know for sure, our reporting station got knocked out.

I guess it was just one hurricane too many for that old tree.
