View Full Version : Low suction, high head, still freezing back

I recently worked on a system that had a refrigerant pipe freezing back to the condenser. I made sure the coil defrosted, removed a dirty filter, checked for any restrictions in the return, and put my gauges on the condenser. My initial pressures where a 40 suction and 200 head. Since I knew there was no air being restricted I began to add r-22. I brought the suction to 50 and the head to 225 but after that the suction wouldn’t go any higher but the head would, the pipe still froze back. I left the system with 50 suction, 225 head since adding more refrigerant only increased the head, but the pipes are still freezing back, any ideas of what the problem could be? Thanks

This really belongs in the pro section. Get your post count up and apply for pro status.

That being said, what is your sub-cooling?
