but your tag line worries the hell out of me! Why do you want to die and do you plan on taking others with you? Economy is picking back up here too. I was really hurting for work the last 2 years but am back to behind now and am investing in a fixer-uper rental home to hide some $$$$$$$ this year.
southeast mo. i agree with spotts last 2 years were rough. gained about 15% this year so far. new const. is good . commercial is good , service and change-outs are terrible

Detroit, Michigan suburbia and it all sucks! It can only get better....I hope. Tons of manufacturors closing and outsourceing. This is what unions do.

Everywhere I turn there is a subdivision or a condo complex or a commercial building going up.

You know the old saying "If you can't beat em, join em." Moved from Michigan to Texas in 1981. I will always have work. And I am NOT a Bush supporter. It is going to get better everywhere soon. This has been the slowest summer in many years. Next summer, we will hear about everybody getting buried in service calls. Nature of the Beast. :D

Illinois...gas prices up...unemployment down...paychecks averaging out okay...as long as I eat and sleep...I'm good.
Never have to worry about getting 40 hours plus at work...much better than 4-5 years ago.

I'm in the Mid-Cities.
Hey I have to maintain some anonymity. :)
Just south of Chicago. New subdivisions everywhere. Open farm land is selling for $10,000 an acre or more. I wished I would have bought it when my dad told me to. Service is slow but can't keep up with new houses and change outs. It is tough to do with two guys. The weather is great!!

What part of Illinois are you from? Central Illinois has lost over 3,000 manufacturing jobs in the last few weeks. Maytag and Mitsubishi to name two. That's not including Caterpillar's outsourcing. The economy blows, when exactly is the election anyway?

Motorboy you are the epitome of gloom and doom why don't you ?.
Houston; here things dropped off bad last Nov. but have started to come back nicely the last two months. It has been hotter the last two weeks than most of Aug.
As far as the overall economy for Houston construction both residential and commercial never seemed to drop off. I heard that one in five new jobs in Texas is created in Houston. In fact we have been trying to find qualified people for two years and can't, around here if your not working its because you don't want to.

NW burbs of Chicago, but most of my work is in Chicago. As far as the economy...it must be great because when i drive to the city, there is friggin bumper to bumper traffic in the morning and the same gridlock in the afternoon, so i gotta think, where the hell are all these people comin from or goin? Must be workin...
