My 2 yr contract's just about up on my old Kyocera 2135 phone. I've been looking at some of the new ones, but I'm not sure which one will give me the best reception and battery time. So far I'm leaning toward the Nokia 3589i.
Does anybody have any recommendations on this, or are there some I should stay away from?

Verizon. They have the best signal by far in this area, so I'm stuck with them.
I have used the Motorola 60 series without the push to talk. They are good phones as long as you keep them dry.
The 70 series looks good but a little high. If you talk a lot you will have to recharge at least once during the afternoon.
I have used a guy several times out of Miami to purchase phones. He has new and used. He will bend over backwards to make sure you are happy. Here is his link. His name is Skip. Tell him I said Hi.

I am either going to a Kyocera 7135 http://www.kyocera-wireless.com/7100_phone/7100_phone_series.htm , an Audiovox Thera http://www.audiovox.com/demos/Thera_Virtual_Tour.html ,or a Treo 600 http://www.palmone.com/us/products/smartphones/treo600/ . I have to have the PDA function. Right now I have a seperate phone and PDA and I'm looking to consolidate. The only problem with the Treo is I'll have to change service providers to one with less coverage so it'll likely be one of the first two.
However the Treo 600 is ok for Verizon so that would be a great pick.

I just don't get why any one doesn't want nextel. I always hear the excuse, "well, but yeagh, they don't work all the time". So what. It's better than anyone else has. I can radio anyone in the country. I sat my rump on a beach in Hawaii and Dispatched calls on my radio.
I got the free incoming, which is better than any one has. I can talk for 10 hours as long as you call me and it don't cost me a dime. I have 800 minutes, long distance inlcuded. I use my phone and plug it into my laptop and have the internet.
I couldn't live with out mine. And contrary to popular beleif, they are getting much better with coverage.

You can make internet calls but it's more expensive than a cell phone and the reception is much worse.
I also have kept away from Nextel because of the area coverage they have here. They would be worth it though if 90% of the people you call switched as well.

Location, Location, Location.......
In the cell world there is an "A" and "B" license in every town
The "A" carrier is usually 850Mhz
The "B" carrier is usually 1900Mhz
Nextel is is the police/fire band
850Mhz works alot better than 1900Mhz
It will penetrate inside buildings much better
Find your 850Mhz carrier, they will have the best coverage in your area.
