I know that the a good service tech would have 3/8", 7/16", 1/2", and 9/16" wrenches in his bag... Would anybody add to that... Does anybody use a regular combination wrench to remove carrier service valve (king valves) stem covers?... Does anybody use a wrench to remove the caps on pump down valves?.... I use nutdrivers for 11/32", 3/8", and 7/16" for blower wheel mounts, and was considering using a 1/2" for compressor mounts, does anybody else do that?... OR do people have a small and a large adjustable wrench do it all? Or the least best option, a pair of channellocks?
I use a 1/4" drive socket set. Works most of the time.

Wrenches for most work, and 4 sizes of adjustable wrenches.
Plus sockets for compressor mounts.
You can never have too many tools!
You can have a tool bag thats too heavy.

I like having flare-nut wrenches on me....great for preventing busted knuckles.

I agree with Beenthere. I have a standard 7pc nut driver set, use 1/4, 5/16, and 3/8 the most. Adjustable wrench to take covers off King valves, and I also carry a Craftsmen set of wrenches. Open on one end and ratcheting boxed on other end. That ratcheting box end comes in handy a lot to get to screw heads that don't even have enough clearance for a socket in fromt of it. I don't use them often but when I do I'm REALLY glad I got them.

My wife gave up on asking what tool I was buying now, hence the user name (Binford)
I also carry a pair of needle nose vise grip pliers.

Offset boxed end 3/8"x7/16" and 1/2"x9/16" are very valuable.

That's a mighty big pocket you have there.
I bet you could carry a spare tire in your wallet.
Mini 4" adjustable in the pocket (Benchmark - opens to 9/16") Leatherman pliers, and one of those nifty mini flashlights (digi-cool) on the old belt. And absolutely every tool you need in your tool back before it takes two to carry it... and the rest in the truck.
Better to looking at it... than wishing you had it.

Oh to have a forklift to get the Van onto the Roof... or into the basement. No matter what favorite tools you have... the one you most often need is in the truck.
And to all the wives of techs that 'need' so many tools.
We need these tools! So there! :D

If you must carry one tool with you besides your meter, make it a Leatherman. If you can't fix it with that,it's going to be down a while. :)

make a three inch circle out of a coat hanger bend the wire so the circle hooks .run your combination wrenches through the wire. its a neet way to keep your wrenches together in the bottom of your tool kit.

Or maybe find one of them cheap carribeaners (climbing/keychain things) to run your wrenched through also, thats what I've been doing lately.
Get a couple big ones for some larger items aswell.
