19XRV bearing ispection.

Have a 2004 19XRV 680 ton with 14K hours on it, never really surged much, and oil samples have been looking good. OEM rep wants to talk about a bearing inspection, but I really feel it's too early to throw that kind of money at it.
We're gonna talk anyway next week, so I was wondering what every one else thinks about it. I haven't been to any tear down schooling on this machine. Personally, I think it could go a while yet.

My personal feelings on it are.....If there is nothing pointing you to check the bearing wear, why check for bearing wear?

Seriously, I would rather see the money spent on a vibration analysis and maintenance....

Good oil samples, good oil pressure, no obvious system issues...

Some of those machines have roller brgs. in the high speed.

You would need vibration trending to check.

I have a 19XR at work with over 28k on the clock. Oil was changed last year after the oil pump faltered. This year's oil report came back good. Other two machines ~25k and also had good reports. Nobody's talking about a teardown for any of these machines in the near future.

Check page 74 they talk about recommendations for bearings.

Tin is creeping up and was at 9PPM the last test almost a year ago, so it's time, I think, if not this winter, the next. Aluminum, iron, moisture, and acid number were real good. Depends on what management can spend on it and when. Carrier's upper limit on tin is 15PPM.

Problem 19XR unit with alarm 206 or Benshaw panel alarm #73.
After alarm 206 (Starter Fault) , reset alarm and start again than chiller run only 30-40 sec and cut off again with same alarm 206.
But if we shutdown the unit for 12 hours and tommorrow we start will normal for 7-8 hours and alarm 206 comes out again.
Please advise us for this matter.

Trying to get funding for a high speed inspection.

If that doesn't work out, the plan would be to change oil and then closely monitor.
Had a vibration analysis, and there is some indication of vibration, but not threatening, according to my OEM brain trust.
