I'm in Tallahassee, We got a lot of rain and a little wind, but no damage. A tree fell on a power line behind my house and started arching on the ground. I watched as some dumba** went around the power company truck. They started blowing their horn at him until he stopped and started backing up. Then we heard a little arguing between the two and then he left. We were without power for about 15 minutes.

happy to hear both of you made it thru ok. I'm in coastal south carolina just a lot of rain here on sunday. If yall are near area's that got hit hard I imagine business will be busy in the up coming months. I know a couple of independent contractors here are leaving here next week to look for sub work in florida.

Does home owner’s insurance in Florida cover damages from
hurricane or this is extra?
How much are average premiums anyway?

Insurance companies will have again an excuse to raise premiums for home owners all over the country.

The deductibiles were ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 per storm. If Ivan hits look for future policy's to go even higher.

I think that after Andrew hit the Insurance in Florida changed somewhat. The state changed the rules to make it easier on the insurance companies. Most of the little insurance companies went broke and left, so it is mainly large companies that can handle large payouts. They also set up some sort of trust account for times like this along with raising the deductibles to shift more of the burden to the consumers. I doubt the insurance companies will be hurt too bad, but that's not going to stop them from raising the rates again. oh yea, the homes directly on the coast are covered by the FEMA's NFIP. I guess thats taxpayer money that is not part of that two billion our fearless leader is sending this way.
