Trane Unloader adjustment

30 ton Trane Semi hermetic compressor

W configuration
Model# 2F 5D 68

The unloaders are definetly not electric, onlyhydraulic

In the lower end of the compressor there is an oil sight glass and two hex shaped nuts

everything is internal on this well operating compressor



How can I adjust the differential on the unloaders

The unloaders are continuosly loading and unloading every five seconds
The dx air handler itself is maintained very well

The return air temp is about 70 Deg. (light load)

The unloader will operate
over a 9 to 10 psi range with three
capacity modulation steps. The
setting at which the unloading starts
can be adjusted, but the differential
between steps cannot be adjusted.

The differential is not adjustable. Set the point to start unloading and leave it alone.

Hydraulic unloaders of this type are designed to hunt and loading/unloading is normal as the load changes.

to adjust close off suction service valve while compressor is running just enough to lower suction and watch suction pressure find out what pressure compressor unloads. if its 58 lbs dx or 55 lbs chill water your good if not turn cw to unload at a higher pressure and ccw at a lower pressure.
