Damn DIYer...how's an appliance repair guy to make any money? Don't you understand the years of training that is required in that field. I swear nobody has any respect for the trades... ;)

I think there's somekind of enviromental card you have to carry to work on washing machines. So you don't kill the fishies.

Diceman

I think I will just change every part till it works.

Dice

If its a whirlpool kenmore it needs a new transmission

Diceman
08-24-2004, 05:37 PM
Yeah, I had a whirlpool that had that. I changed the transmission to fix it, but this is a Maytag, and it only doesn's spin out on delicate wash or extra rinse button, other that it seems to be ok.

If they are over 12 years old and buy a new washer and dryer.

See You feel you can fix any thing when you're an hvacr tech and you're not going to get beat by some machine!

Guess what those planned obsolescence no good s. o. b. engineers beat us oh yeh we can fix it alright. But its not cost effective.

So just raise your prices and go buy new ones, and hope you get some engineers and some white goods company executive, or stock holder to take it out on. :D

Now Think about this for a few minutes, Dice post's his pic in where am I standing in his cub scout uniform, we make fun of his clothes and all of a sudden his washing machine is broke? Coinsidence I dont think so, I think it is his ploy to make his wife buy him new clothes so he is in the same clothes generation gap instead of the 70's. No instead of him washing clothes when they get dirty he goes and buy's a new set of them. This ought to be great for our economy.

Stop trying to cheat those Mexicans out of building a new unit for you.:D
Seriously, I bought a new Kenmore front loader and it only uses about a gallon of water. Also got a rebate from electric company as it saves on the utility bill.

He hasnt replied back for a wong wong time and I am begining to think that maybe just maybe he got clean clothes and went out on the town but on the other hand he may be in his basment rigging up his treadmill with a sprocket and when it spin cycle time he goes down to exercise. one good thing though is at least it is only on the delicate cylce so he should have it pretty easy.

One of my duties when I started out was being the Maytag Man. Our co. sold thousands of them. Haven't done it for awhile unless it's my own. Am I a DIY now?
Got a New set of Maytags last year. I worked on the damn things for year and never saw the same quality in other products. Take apart one from 1964 and 1986 and they were same inside, maybe different buttons, cabinet but the same.
Then I get mine, sent the wifey out and said get whatever you want but it better say Maytag. The boys unboxed them and I didn't recognize them.

Those are so bad I heard there is a class action lawsuit against them. They leak.

According to the samurai appliance repair man, old maytag stuff is the bomb, but their new stuff is as good as the next guys.

Anyway girls, the machine is only about 3-4 years old and works well, it does spin except on 2 cycles like I said, extra rinse and delicate.........seems you guys ain't as smart as I thought.
I come here for help and all I get is abuse from the elite "boys club" that resides here, you guys are no better than an aol chatroom.....I am gonna report this site to the BBB and internet police and the EPA and the IRS and the CIA, before they get dissovled. You will all be in big trouble real soon. I had enough, I am going back to the HVAC-NEWS web site, where no one has any fun.

Just fixed my Whirlpool washer yesterday. What a pain. Had to replace the broken "dogs" in the agitator. Next thing you know, they'll be putting cats in them!!

Glad I'm not an appliance repairman. I can just see me having to tell an old lady that her dogs got hung up and one of them broke off :D

Dice you're one funny sob

Shows you how well we read,
****, guess I missed the 3 to 4yr old crap

Get th fu^k outta here 3 to 4 yr's old I'd pitch a bich wait a minute you didn't buy this shee it from Sears.
Heh don't tell me you bought it, the wife would'a known better dip ****.

Ok lets start from the begining.

Who does the wash probably not you, she does right!
If you are in need of a new tool to help you do a job or do it better you buy the best you can,

No UEI or crap like that for you right!!.

Well this is one of her tools what the f are you doing getting involved in her tools let her handle it.

You'd probably fall right into the yeh well I understand ok it's outta warranty.

Where as

She won't put up with that crap [after all it's her tool]
that aint work'en. If she is like all the other women I wouldn't want to deal with her, then again if you got a deal from Bombed Out Bongo Benneys Bargain Basement store.

Fess up n' buy her some new shee*t [er a tools] hey ya might even get laid a couple a times that alone's worth a few Peso's :D

Oh n hey dude if your'e look'en for abuse I'll sic my old lady on ya, now that's abuse!!.
Hey then if you fix it think of all the money you saved
what's your time worth 100 bucks an hour and you only spent 50 bucks for the part two hours to locate and pick it up and an hour and a half to put it in . hell another hundered bucks or so and you'd a got laid for a month. Well you can always work it by hand:D

So Dice, how many parts did you change before you finally found the part needed? Didn't you say once "don't just fix what is broken find and fix what caused it"? Are you going to look any further to see what caused the timer to go bad or are you content the way it is?

Just kidding, good job sport!!

Diceman

I am measuring the superheat on it tomorrow, to get to the bottom of it.
Actually WH, you and some others said early on to change the timer, that based on my intuitive 6th sense of mechanical talent led me to go for that first.......plus it was the easiet thing to do.
When in doubt, change the main controller.......
