Depends on your experience...best answer could be to have a good bankruptcy lawyer on retainer...this is a very volatile business for the in-experienced. Give us an idea of experience and maybe we can help.

I have my type A licence.Me and my buddy have been subcontracting from a company.I see a lote of companies starting out and they seem like they are doing well.I would just like to know how they get so successful? We do quality work and we are honest.I just hope that is enough to succeed.

Hard work and more hard work! If you are going to do service, a flat rate pricing plan is mandatory.

Nice, good looking clean trucks as well a uniformed employees.

Those are three things out of a million that help make an HVAC contractor succesful.

you have to know the basics on how a business is run.

It's one thing to work out of the back of your truck for cash. And it's another thing to grow a business.

Yes, but it's a bit tougher.

Like all businesses, success depends on your business savvy. Took me 29 years to learn a little bit, and a very short time here to learn a bunch. There are some very good businessmen here.

No, it's probably the single worst decision you can make. A decision that you'll probably regret sooner rather than later.

You can never have perfect harmony with another human being, and when one starts to feel that the other isn't pulling their own weight, (This happens fast...) the fighting and animosity begins.

There is an active thread right now where a guy had a partner embezzle funds with a fraudulent check and fund transfer. This is not a real unusual situation.

Honesty, integrity, enthusiasm...Great technicians do not neccesarily make great managers. know your capabilities and don't try to bs your way thru anything, most people are intelligent enough to see right thru you.
A good manager could make almost any type of business successful...be prepared for the slow season by putting back some of the loot from the feast....partners, no way, if you can't do it on your own, by surrounding yourself with people who are dedicated and loyal...don't do it at all.

why dont you ask them how they do so well, if they do do well, the guy i work for does B&R and HVAC, his 2 brothers each own a B&R buisness, all seperate, why havent they combined ther buisiness, i havent asked my boss that but there has to be a reason, and i seen my boss and our friend, friend of my family aside from the boss try this 4 times and eveytime it ends up in arguing its better to just remain friends and not get a buisness running together from what i seen thus far in the past few years its one thing working together but starting a buisness is a whole other ball park
