I have a Mcquay roof top unit on a newspaper. They do not use HEPA filters and the fine paper dust seems to go through the pleated filters they use.

The first coil is hot water and the second is chilled water. The coil looks like .006 alum fins on 10 fpi and is about 10 inches thick. That paper dust hitting the cold coil has really made a mess. It looks like it has worked its way all the way through the coil over time. The coil is about 54" x 86".

I would have to remove the coil to clean it, there's no room between the hot and cold to work. Even if I take it out I'm not sure if or how I can clean through the whole thickness of the coil.

Is there any hope other than replacing it?

Probably not!! We have sent them put to get dipped and cleaned. That crap doesnt want to come off. Sell em better filters also.

You may be better off to just replace the coil.
I had a simular experience with a printing plant.
When that stuff gets in a coil it grows bacteria and who knows what else???
Never could completely clean it.
I've seen eleminators and spray nozzles in air wash systems stop up as well.
Good luck!
