Hey Pat,
I am sure if you give more information on this machine there will be someone here that can help you.
We need:
cuber model #
type of refrigerant
pressure readings
temperature readings on liquid line out of the condenser
temperature readings on suction line 8 to 10 inches before the compressor
operational details on what it is doing from start up.
I have't seen an old GE in 15 years so any and all information you can give will help us.

all i can tell you is it is R134a.I think that the water from my house will not stop pumping in to the ice machine. I was told that after the machine fills up and a soilenoid will cut on and stop the flow from the house until it needs more.Is that true?HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
Yep,
that is very true. if the water won't stop, pull the power from the coil on top of the solenoid valve. most of them are located at the bottom rear of the refrigerator nfear the incomming water line.
If the water stops, it could be in the timer. if it keeps running, the valve is bad or has something stuck in the valve. might try cleaning out the valve before purchasing one.
if it is not the valve, call a service company to repair.

Is your compressor running? There is a "washing" switch.
