Is there any way to check UNT's without that damn box? Some day I gotta take a course on this stuff!

You can use a RS232 to RS485 converter and connect thru the N2 bus instead of the zone bus. B&B Electronics makes a very small, port powered converter that plugs into your serial port. Also the N2 bus is way faster than the zone bus. Or you can get a CVTPro. It's a replacement for the cablepro. A lot smaller than the clunky cablepro.

If you are working with these controls there is really no way to get around the required tools *and* knowlege! Your employer should provide both, if you are self employed make the investment in yourself and your company! I'm amazed at how FUBARed a system can become when those with just enough knowlege get involved! (not referring to you here). My favorite was the hotel facilities director who over rode a tower pump with the piping valved off just below the roofline... :-) 11 floors up, 8" Vic pipe!

I know what you mean, gone..i've got a fair amount of ddc exposure. Someone on this site has a good line "ain't none of us as smart as all of us"

I'm just looking for an alternate means of checking parameters on a UNT cause the company cablepro is pouched and I have to go back to the site to check one out.

As Jhawk said, you can use a RS-232 to RS-485 converter and it works great and is faster. I bought mine through the B&B Electronics website.

I use this converter. It has the 9 pin serial connector so you can plug it straight into your laptop without the adapter. Connect terminal TD(A) on the converter to N2- on the UNT. Connect terminal TD(B) on the converter to N2+ on the UNT. Make sure you select the address in HVAC Pro that you have set on the UNT.

If they want to invest in a zone terminal you can check it at the stat with out the lap top but parameter adjustments are limited to what you program them to.
