Looking for any service information on this machine,
There is a sight glass on the first stage suction, what is this for? I think i am overcharged sounds like liquid hitting the first stage impeller when it loads.

Sight glass is to check vane operation and for the presence of carryover.

if it is a 2 pass evap and a 2 pass cond then at 44F leaving chilled water and 95 leaving cond water, you have about 380 tons @ 318 kW, 780# R11 and 7 gallons of oil.

and the sight glass is looking at the 2nd stage impeller.

It is probably just the vanes chattering.

Thank you all you have been a very big help. I see liquid refrigerant in the sight glass splashing up against the glass.
