Well True to my beliefs I don't prejudge anyone.
--------
Got a call from a fellow in need at a State Fair.
"My A/C isn't working , help !! Its an RV "
NJ is having a State Fair for the next 10 days
------------------------------------------
I Arrive at a scene of hundreds of Trailers/RV's and
many people waving. It was 88 degees.
I have spent the last 2 1/2 days servicing Duo Therm
units, mostly airflow problems. I'm even giving a
class in how to clean a rooftop unit.
------------------------------------
Good people, they pay on the spot and are glad someone
is willing to help.
----------------------------
This is America.
---------------------------------
This is why I'm missing the HVAC convention. I wish it
was different.

These people are the vendors and travel about the country.
Most of them appear to be from the South.
They claim that they can't get any A/C service wherever
they go. "Nobody will come out".
And when someone does they know they are going to be gone
in a few days so they don't evacuate a unit
properly after a repair or get the charge right.
Most seemed very knowledgable about the correct
way to do a repair. They asked that I use braze taps
instead of clamp ons.
I'll look out for some more business next year.
They all thought I was one honest Yankee.

Good job....maybe you found you're niche .....you could travel with the carnival folk during thier treks and keep them comfortable. :D

Fixed them of course! I had a recovery machine and a vacuum pump on top
of the trailers.
FYI: leaks occur due to wires rubbing against a line,
or stress points where a line enters the trailer.
I fixed a number of Cruisairs units that had lines
with leaks. A few Duo Therms. I evacuated them and recharged.
Most units without leaks had air flow over the condenser coil
trouble.

I must say it turned out to be a deeply rewarding experiance.
People were happy, satisfied. I got cheers from the "bunk"
fellows who live in these trailers and run the Fair. I got cheers from the
owners who just wanted some cool air.
It might seem trival but if your home is a trailer and
you are only in one spot for a week then a good tech
is like gold. They paid cash and didn't argue.
I wish most of my customers were like them.
