Does anyone have a secret for installing say a 1/4 " copper line into say 1 1/4 " copper line and prevent the small line from cracking at the point where it is brazed in. An example would be for a hot gas bypass of a txv equalizing line of an access line for a gauge connection.

I like to use a smaller line for equalizers like 1/8 inch. It can take vibrations better than 1/4 inch. As for guage connections, try using a tee with a good schrader or a valve.

Try making a loop or two on the 1/4 inch line to give it some flexability.

I use an awl. It leaves no shavings.
