Dumb question does york still install smooth bore evap tubes. The head building engineer had made a comment that the tubes where smooth bore. I told him they shouldnt be due to the age, and that i would check into it. Can i tell by the cooler code VH? The evap approach is .5 wouldnt think i could get that with smooth bore? Thank you.

Is there any benefits to smooth bore to make someone want to order them special?

Only times I've ever seen them were in situations where water quality was an issue. If there's a lot of silt or mud in the water system, it hangs in the riflings on enhanced tubes - smooth bore will wash on out. Doesn't help with scaling issues, though. Times I've seen it were where the evap loop was open and pumped off of a river or settling pond in industrial applications. Never seen them on a commercial application. I'm sure there are other reasons to use them for which I'm probably not aware.

If this is an E style, look in the sales order data on the control panel - it'll give you the tube code for both HX's and you can look it up and see for sure if they're smooth or enhanced. If they're smooth, that's not a standard selection. Go to the sales guys and find out why it was selected the way it was.
