Hi,
I don`t have Manitowoc`s Q model handbook.Can anyone explain how the syphoning on some of these small machienes work.Is there a solenoid on the dump line?

I believe ( I'm not fully awake yet.) on the smaller under counter units there is NOT a valve on the dump line. It uses the siphoning to dump.
Altan, their are three books on the Q series. 1. Under counter models, 2. Regular and 3. CVD Quite cubers.
Ask your supplier for a copy or as markwolf said download them.

Gravity or something like that :)
water level rises enough to start down the drain in the sump, the plastic cap deal over the drain won't allow any air in so once enough starts its trip out of the machine the rest of whats in the sump follows untill water level is below the cap. someone else could probably explain that better

remove the cap from the standpipe and with the unit in the ice making mode, adj. float so the water level is 1/4 inch below top of stand pipe. Unit won't siphon if water level is off. Replace cap over the stand pipe. When unit goes into harvest the pump stops. the column of water in the discharge pipe falls and causes the water level in the sumpt to rise above the top of the stand pipe. this is what cause the siphon action.

thanks.this was the part I couldn`t figure out..
