When replacing suction elbow gaskets on a York YT what style gaskets are everyone using? Ring or full face? I seem to have better luck with the full face but got talked into putting in ring gaskets today. Not sure that was a good idea.

That would be ring.

ring gaskets......use some dow 111 to hold 'em in place when putting the ell back on. if you read any of the other threads on here, i would highly recommend plugging the 3 holes (with set screws and loctite) on the compressor side of the suction ell face if it's an older style machine.

Use the ones that are in the parts book. Sorry if it seems like I'm getting personal, but your user name implies that you work(ed) for York, so the question causes a bit of suspicion.....

I was just wondering what other mechanics were using. I've done ring and full face. We always just buy the material locally and make them up ourselves. I know in the parts book its a ring, but was just curious if anyone was making them up themselves and what style they were having better results with. Seems like there are alot of machines out there with suction elbow leaks.
