I'm fairly new with Envision for BACnet (I think it's Ver 3.1) & I'm trying to add a device to the network. I put the address on the dip switches on the device, added the data wiring & 24vac. Now.. do I need to go into the Device Manager & configure the device? This is a fairly new system & I wasn't given any manuals or good information. Sadly there is NO support given online that I can find & it's been a learn on your own experience for about 3 years now. My local rep. is generally nonexistent & I just keep getting forwarded to unanswered voicemails. Is this whole thing a big secret to allow an open door for Alerton service people?
If anyone can help it would be deeply appreciated

If you have 3.1 VER. it is gonna be Bactalk. It has been out since 2001, and is probably unsupported by your rep, since Alerton has changed the software to Envision for Bactalk v2.6. Obviously the software is up and running, so you shouldnt need to upgrade unless you a catastrophic failure w/ the computer. First device scan the device to make sure there are no conflicts, then you can confg. it . The Iom I emailed you should help you out.

Is this a brand new device, out of the box with no DDC in it? Are you replacing a defective device? Whats wrong with the old one? What is this device controlling? Are there any other devices that might be similar?

That's the best support I've ever got......HVAC-TALK Rules!
Turned out that the neutral leg on my 24vac supply need to be connected to the cabinet ground. Everything is good now.
Thanks again!!!!

doubleduece,

Is there a master list of the generic/default controller displays (eg. BTI configuration Display/VLC 1188 I/O Display/LSI AV/BV etc)? Not the graphic of the equipment (AHU/VAV/FCU etc) but controller information Displays?

kontrol out

kontrolfreak,
Yes there is, it is located in alerton standard folder of the rep/job folder. i dont have my laptop in front of me , but I believe they start in the 9??????????? range in the display folder, there should be an excel file or two in there that is a directory. Another way to see what display you are looking for is to edit a screen and place a button on the screen, you can choose a display that the button will navigate to, when you chhose the display from the directory this way it will tell you the display #, ie. 999999999, and a display discription.

For the most part all of the newer controllers are half wave devices, and need to be grounded on the 24vac/gnd. If not it will affect com. The device will work without the ground, but over time you notice slower response. The only device that YOU DO NOT GROUND, is a repeater, if you ground that device it will send you a smoke signal..
