How do I gain access to a unt controller while logged into the NAE? I have tried the drop down to CCT and it comes up with the error message "must first install Passthru components on this machine before using this tool"?
I am trying to see the logic and the AI in a Millenium Syntesis controller.

I believe you will need to do an upload directly from the controller unless you have an ADS, or JCI laptop...You will not be able to upload without a Cable Pro or equivalent...

I do not know for sure but you may have to get your Johnson Controls branch to load the pass thru and tools first I believe.

you will need to install SCT on your computer to perform pass thru

SCT is needed on the local machine.

Not only will you need to load SCT on the machine, but you will also have to place a check mark in the appropriate box to load the pass though tools for field controllers. I don't think it does this by default. You may need to select the "custom" option when prompted. You don't need a license for stand alone SCT, so you don't need a branch rep to do it for you if you have the software disk set for your ADS/X.

1.is the FEC(bacnet) or UNT(n2).
2. (must first install Passthru components on this machine before using this tool"?)
the CCT or Hvacpro must be installed on the adx/ads or the Windows PC your using.
It will work if all the software is installed correctly.

I have HVAC pro installed, these are UNT controllers. So I need to have SCT installed on the same machine as the HVAC Pro? How do I get the SCT program?

Our local JCI rep goes in through his machine using the ethernet.

It is just my personal opinion, I like to log into each device directly, especially when doing an upload on an unfamiliar machine....
You would be done already....

UNT can not be accessed with CCT.
You must use HVAC-PRO.
You must have SCT installed.
HVAC-PRO will be installed with the SCT install.
You can try to install HVAC-PRO without SCT and see if it works but I have not tried myself.

I am getting in good with a property owner with a couple properties with Alerton. I have a problem with one where the new tenant shut the VAV down and moved the stats and pissed off the computer. I have to think they need to be re-installed into the system. Two do not respond (blank), two show heat on stat and cool on computer. I plan a visit back tomorrow and would love some advice. Also the stats are now all located in one room. Is there a remote option? Thanks, Brian

you need to call a qualified controls technician. They will not transmit any data from a cardboard box in the floor.

I tried to do this myself but I was having some issues. Installing HVAC Pro was no problem. When I try to install the SCT to activate the passthru, am I supposed to add all the extra server stuff? (Microsoft IIS, SQL server etc) I do not want to create a second server, I just want to be able to comission and download stuff from my laptop. I can do this by remote accessing through the server, but i don't like doing it for stability and security reasons
The disc I have is for version 4.1. I know its possible because the JC guy I used to work with said it can be done
I guess my question is, whats the worst that could happen? could I accidentally turn my laptop into the main server? I know im not installing ADX, but still im paranoid. Is there another version of SCT or CCT I should be installing?

SchoolBoardGuy, there is an installation manual provided with the disks provided. Load the software for a standalone SCT and follow the instructions. You MUST install all SQL and other related software before you load up the SCT. When you goto to load the SCT, ensure you follow the directions to get C-Tools loaded including the two patches. One for HVACPro and the other for GX-9100.
You DO NOT need to load CCT in order to work on N2 devices like the UNT. The CCT is used to view the newer product line of FEC controllers.
Do not worry about making your laptop a second server. By adding the software as a standalone SCT you are only setting up to work as a database generator for MSEA products and as a tool to work on field devices (the UNT).
The only device that is a server is the ADS/X and you would need a license to activate that so don't load it on your laptop.
If you follow the directions in the loading instructions it should take you a couple of hours to perform this task. The important thing to check is that you have a CPU capable of accepting the software (check the documentaion) and then follow the directions step by step. If you skip or miss a step you may have to start all over again. Take your time and you will be fine.
If you want to directly connect to the UNT with a cable and laptop you do not need to install the standalone SCT software. You will then only be able to connect directly to the field device. If you connect using the Zone Bus, it will take the device offline from the NAE and may take up to 10 minutes to come back online unless you reset the controller after commissioning. If you plug into the N2bus with your laptop, remember to disconnect the N2bus to the NAE as the laptop will become the supervisory controller and the UNT cannot talk to 2 supervisory devices at one time.
Good luck and hope this helps.

Need to be clear on software requirements
HVAC PRO only works with Win XP. It will run (not well) on Win 7 Pro 32 bit with XP mode installed
Old version SCT runs on Win XP and the newest version SCT runs on Win 7 Pro 32 bit
You can use the pass thru componets (HVAC PRO) with the IE interface and not having SCT open. Also, to install SCT you MUST follow and intstall the IILS and SQL stuff in the exact order JCI says to. Also, remember that any JCI software that says it works with Win 7 requires Win 7 Pro or Ultimate and it has to be a fresh clean install of 32 bit OS. you cannot simply upgrade from a store bought laptop with Win 7 home and do an upgrade.
Since you have a UNT which talks N2, ignore CCT.
Have fun, the only fault with Johnson is the difficulty of getting its software set up. Dont want to even mention all the different JAVA runtime's needed for various NAEs

You must load the version of SCT that coresponds to the revision of your highest rev NAE

Thanks alot guys for all the input! Im happy to report that I was able to install SCT with no problems.
For those of you who have the software but were afraid of the consequences, dont be. Just have patience and follow the handy instructions i found it helps if you have 2 computers while doing this.
Now to go in and really learn the system by messing up some other programmers programs

This is the best answer here. I have loaded many laptops with JCI software and have run into the same passthru problem in the past. Do what this guy says and you'll be alright. As for loading C-Tools, I have the latest MSEA disc revision (5.2) and they require you to load C-Tools and patches separately now. The install file and patches are located in the SCT-CCT folder. So on the new versions of SCT, make sure you do the separate install for this.
