Installation of new infinity system wrapping up. Looks like they did a nice job. This was a old 23 yo York system replacement. I had a 2 ton unit serving the basement and a 3 ton unit serving our 1st floor. After the installer did the calculations we were oversized and we decided to combine the two areas with one 3 ton infinity with zoning. Connecting the 2 duct systems was challenging but I think there did a nice job.

I ran the system test from the infinity controller and got the following results:
Static Pressure 0.32 in @ 1525 cfm. Duct assesment: zone 1 (upstairs) 41%, zone 2 (Basement) 45%, Damper leakage: 14%. Are these OK?

One thing that I question is the return air. They combined the return air from both the basement and the upstairs without any sort of dampers on the returns. I think that it will work and I don't know how else you would do it but is this the correct way?

The basement is finished but mostely unoccupied. In the past I left it basically unconditioned and ran a dehumidified 365. I am hoping to use the infinity in the basement to mostly dehumidify and turn off the stand alone dehumidifier. Should I set that zone to unoccupied or set minimal 68 degree heat and 78 degree cool settings? If it is set to unoccupied I believe that the basement becomes a dump zone.

I would appreciate your thoughts and recommendations before they leave the job.
