Get the Mash Trivia Game and you can play solitare.
Just kidding.
How many years has Mash been on rerun? Seems forever. I finally gave up watching any reruns of the reruns since I found Mariska H.

Boy, I'm a MASHaholic and I don't know Klinger's middle name. Who do you like better, Trapper or BJ? Frank or Charles? One of my favorite episodes is when Col Blake leaves and dies. They said the cast had no idea he would die, until they were handed the script. What a great show.
Although I disagree with the politics of the actors, for 1/2 hour I'm able to forget about that.
Klinger, Maxwell Q. - corporal played by Jamie Farr. He was a corpsman whose duties ranged from carrying litters to guarding the camp. Before he became company clerk when Radar left, he wore dresses and pulled many stunts in his attempt to get a Section 8 discharge. He is promoted to sergeant during season 10.

I remember it being Q but despite watching every episode probably 10 times each now, don't recall hearing what Q was. OK, what was Col. Potter's middle name or at least initial?

mash was only good the first 2 years, when the new BJ dude and colonel came in, it went downhill.

Sherman "T" Potter, husband of Mildred, father of "Ebby" (sp), of Hannibal, MO. Veteran of his third war.
He and I share the same taste in literature, art, and animals. I have a shorter fuse and am much taller, though.:D

I thought it went to sh!t, too, but got better later on. When Radar left the show, though, it became awkward to watch.
Didn't care for the BJ character too much. Trapper John was a better fit for the show.
Charles, however, was slow coming out of the gate, but the character really started to fit in near the end.

They made a mistake or two early on.
Ugly John should've stayed. He was a hilarious SOB.
The generals were played by different characters.
BTW, Harry Morgan, (Col. Potter) made a one time appearance on the show as a loony tunes General before they picked him for the colonel replacement.
They should've given some more nurses larger parts in the thing. Seemed they never really got much credit, but were always in the background.

I heard that they dropped the Captain Spearchucker Jones character because they found out, after they began the show, that there was not one single black doctor in the US military during the Korean conflict, and they wanted the appearance of the show to be as true-to-life as the actual war would've been. Makes sense. I kinda liked him, but we didn't get a chance to get to know him. (Or Ugly John, or most of the nurses, for that matter.)
The movie and the TV series were really totally differnet, IMO. The TV series did as well as it did, for as long as it did, because of EXCELLENT timing, great writing, and likable characters. The country was still bruised and bloody from the Vietnam war, and this kind of lightened the moment up a bit, so to speak.
As yuo might've guessed, I really like the show.:)

LOL... Likable characters? Ted Kennedy type Yankees, a transvestite, a old slutty nurse, a virgin Army clerk with a big ugly mole on his head and horrible oriental actors. Had me on the edge of my chair.
It did good because there was not 300 channels on TV then, Block Buster and the Internet.

Not even.
Some of the funniest episodes were after Trapper John left the show.
Though, I think some of it has to do with age, us young guys prefer the later episodes. :P

The series (at least parts of it) was filmed at Malibu Creek State Park, near Los Angeles, CA.
I went there a long time ago to go hiking, maybe 15 yrs ago. There was a small building that housed artifacts from the park and the tv show. I remember they had displayed scripts, photos, tv guide with MASH on the cover, and some props. Kind of interesting. Don't know if it's still there.
I even saw McLean Stevenson around town a couple of times. One time was in a camera store. Another time driving his Porsche. That's the closest I've ever been to fame & fortune.

It's a campfire sing-a-long song, boys & girls...
Ah one anna too anna...
Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see...
that suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
I try to find a way to make
all our little joys relate
without that ever-present hate
but now I know that it's too late, and...
The game of life is hard to play
I'm gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I'll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.
The only way to win is cheat
And lay it down before I'm beat
and to another give my seat
for that's the only painless feat.
The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn't hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger...watch it grin, but...
A brave man once requested me
to answer questions that are key
is it to be or not to be
and I replied 'oh why ask me?'
'Cause suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
...and you can do the same thing if you please.

He was always playing the guitar, and singing. Can anyone remember his BIG hit in the early '70's? Clue-the song was a "real stinker".

Okay I'm not lookin, even though I could. I'm being honest...
Your clue could be pointing towards "Dead Skunk (in the middle of the road)" I have heard Arlo Guthrie do it, so I thought it was his. Am I right? What do i win?

DING! DING! DING! You guessed right! Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road was the first 45 record I bought as a kid. Drove my parents nuts, because I played it over, and over, and over...
I don't think Arlo ever recorded that song, tho Loudin and Arlo do sound alike.
