Thinking of replacing my 35 year old furnace, a/c, and hot water tank.
Opinions on combo systems anyone?
Tankless or storage tank type?
Maybe a solar panel.

It depends a lot on your needs and utility rates.

A storage heater works for small water heating loads. If you have a hot tub or lots of teenagers, instaneous gas water heaters make more sense. Instantaneous electric heaters make less sense in residential settings.

Solar is very expensive up front and can have more maintenance costs than standard water heaters. Tax credits and utility rebates even the score. High utility rates make solar a better deal.
