I need to improve the filtration on my homes AC system upstairs and downstairs due to my wife’s asthma. She is pretty much allergic to just about everything per her allergist.
I've been looking at the Aprilaire 5000, Trion AirBear 2000CFM, and the Guardian Plus.
The main level of my home is 2700 sq. ft. and the second level is 1100 sq. ft.
I'd like to get your recommendations on these systems as well as sources that I could by these systems directly from.
Regards,

If she is in fact allergic to about anything you will need a medium efficiency filter media such as the 4" Air Bear to reduce particulate content and Ultra violet lights to help kill off bacteria and fungus.
A HEPA filter, if prescribed by a physician, may actually be paid for by some health insurers. It is really efficient and not cheap. I have seen Lifebreath filter units offering generic prescription forms to be used by physicians who are otherwise unaware of the product and it's supposedly therapeutic capabilities.
Have a Pro check the static of your duct system.Your blower may not be able to handle the resistance of any of these filters.
This can cause compressor failure. You can do more damage ,on your own, than you might think.
Call around ,not all A/C guys are able to check this, and look up the specs of your units,to give you an answer,be specific in your request,no need to waste your time,or theirs.

the latest issue of ac news confirmed with a study in europe UV LIGHTS ARE INEFFECTIVE...thus a waste of money..i have been vindicated again!!..i have used the air bear for over 17 years and designed correctly and installed they are about the best i have seen ..the only thing better is lennox pure air that is very well engineered with a different approach

Thanks Airman.
Call Cimatec about their filter enhancer (www.cimatec.com, but it's not on their web site you'll have to talk to them). Its a ionizer that installs downstream of the filter in the rtn side. Causes the particulate to become attracted to each other. That makes to either too large to float or it causes them to become large enough to be caught by a filter. Haven't used it yet, but it sounds good.

Actually it says that the uv light location (warm side of coil)wasn't optimal and that the study should have had the uv in different locations to give accurate results overall.
In other studies the untested AHU locations (wet side of coil/pan)did benefit iaq by being irradiated with uv

I saw your mention of the Cimatec Enhancer and searched a little and came across more info here:

"Sounds" interesting. Less cost than a UV light, and no maintanence. Anyone really know if they do what they say?

material says: "Significantly enhances system air quality"
What does that mean?
How do you sell such a fictional HVAC product?
