Just replaced a failed micro on a PFH087 with a factory refurbuished board as new are not available. Restored all settings with the exception of time/date, each time I enter the values it says "Change Successful", when you hit enter for the final part of the date all characters go back to zero's. McQuay chiller tech support line claims countdown timer needs to be reset by factory technician with laptop uplink.

Additionally when you go to make changes the screen does not prompt you for the password, you just have to to enter it and then make your changes. If you try to start the machine the evap pump starts but doesn't countdown (likely clock related).

Anyone ever heard of this, what's the point of selling replacement micro's to service contractors if you still need factory service to get it working? Just venting for the most part as now McQuay is probably going to expect me to pay for them to come to site (3hrs each way for them). It sounds like a load of crap to me.

If it happens to be a repaired board, I can say that I've done the same and had the same issues (not with McQuay). If these things are obsolete and they're trying to have them fixed, I'd consider going another route. I hear MCS retrofit control panels are a good product. Or, you could give McQuay your money and retro with their stuff.

First, I assumed you had given them the software code, correct? Second, send it back! Tell them to send another one and you will send that one back. You may get low discharge superheat trips too with liquid injection. You ahve to use WinMon software to turn it off.

I have had the same problem with refurbished boards. There still should be
new boards available. They gave me a choice only 3 weeks ago and the new
board was 1000 more than the refurbished, but they still needed the old board
and it was a 1000 dollar core charge.Long story short the refurbished was a
bad program,so I gave my customer a choice to have McQuay to come out and try to reload the program, order a new board or try to send the refurbished back.McQuay came out and said the board would not take the
program and installed a new one.So even if you get a refurbished you may
have to send it back or take the board to a local McQuay office to reload the
program. In my case the board I replaced was shorted. The best program for
the 200 is k code. Its not the latest but has no problems.I do like the microtech 2 touch screen conversion and have done several. You will have to
pull gas to weld a suction sensor well for surge protection enhansment.
or put a york optiveiw panel (I like them better anyway)

I just packaged up the useless refurbuished board for return, my local McQuay rep is going to test the board and replace it if need be. This site has 3 dual chillers 2 with 'G' code and the 3rd chiller which was added later has the MicroTech II controller. All 3 chillers are on a BAS system and are networked. Whenever I take the failed micro off of the network they lose automatic control of all 3 chillers and have to run them manually, what a PITA. So here I am trying to give my customer a cost effective solution and I get crap replacement components from the manufacturer.:gah::gah:

It's been over a month since this fiasco started and today I finally recieved a functional replacement micro. I swear McQuay gets JCI leftovers when it comes to useful personel, at least McQuay has some useful chiller info on their website but it's like pulling teeth to get useful help when you recieve junk replacement components because as far as they are concerned it must be YOU that can't figure out what the problem is, God forbid they have sent out faulty equipment. Oh well this rant is over no I can go on to my UCM replacement fiasco from the same manufacturer.
