Installed a new Goodman furnace (GMS81405DN), evaporator and condensing unit (GSC130481) last Fall for my Parents. Furnace worked great all Winter and now the air conditioner compressor contactor won’t close. I have 27 volts at the contactor and 18 ohms across the contactor coil. I have tried another contactor as well. I also jumpered a spare contactor at the furnace board Y and R and it still won’t close. I have 28 volts across Y and R also. Indoor fan runs like it is supposed to.

I am wondering if something on the furnace board is opening up when I put a load on Y? Has anyone had problems with these boards before?

Thanks in advance.

Well I don't have a common on this board. Also when the thermostat calls for cool the R and Y contacts close as they should. The compressor contacter is wired in series with the Y wire back to the board and like I said I have 27 volts at the contacter, it should close.

Hopefully OP sees these advise before blowing his transformer, to say the least.

OP at least owns a set of gauge, torch and vacuum pump/gauge, so he is a pro.

I have stated that the OP needs a Pro.
He does not understand simple control wiring, and therefore needs a PRO...

Jet62, I think you are very capable. Just take a picture of the install inside and outside, show the pros here that you do things just as well as they do.

In another thread, you asked about the relay the power company put on some Apt units.
Is this one of them???

Never seen a 120V contactor coil in residential equipment.

Ok iv read back a bit and haven't seen this question yet.. you sure you got a 24v coil? not a 120v coil
