I have been noticing more and more, that the amperages on the manufactures tags are different than what is listed on the parts tag.

For example, at a call today. It was a 10ton Predator. The tag listed FLA at 8.3amps. I look at the motor, it was 6.2amps. That a big difference. And yes it was the original motor.

Yesterday, 20ton Voyager. The listed blower FLA was 5.1. The motor listed 4.6.
And again original motor.

Is there a reason why this is? What scares me is I can always just look at the motor to verify, but what about the compressors. Most compressors don't list the RLA.

From what i have been told by another tech was that motors go into all different things thats why amp ratings differ. As for unit amp rating that is the max motor rating .

rarely do you see motors match the tags and then the balancer adjusts the sheaves for his duct specs and your searching always go right to the motor to see the OEM RLA..even then a fan should never be max'd on amps especially if there is a starter overload involved as protection.voltage ranges can aso be a factor
