Our contractor/sub installed a Carrier Performance Series model 25HPA5 in a commerical retail space. According to Carrier they will not warrant this heat pump because it is for residential not commercial usage. What are the implications long run for this istallation besides no warranty? Will the unit hold up for commercial usage? What remedy should I expect from the general contractor and HVAC sub?
Thanks.

It's done everyday, their are lots of "residential" units cooling commercial spaces. You usually get 1 year warranty on any units installed, you just don't get a residential 10 year warranty.
Who said their was no warranty and was this a complete system new install?
I called Carrier directly>

it should run fine on resd or comm if installed right. that means duct work and everything else. read your contract in full and always research what they tell you befor you sign. You can only prove it in writing good luck on anything verbal.

Commercial warranty doesn't offer much anyway , you will not have any problems until a basic commercial warranty has expired .. Just have the contractor sign the warranty expersion on his invoice --- it's that easy
