If you do not have a name plate the compressor is sometimes the next best thing it will give you voltage phase and capacity.

Lack of capacitors on compressors and motors.

Count "hot" conductors in disconnect. Excluding the obvious ground(if), the hot conductors will be switched and/or fused at the disco.

2 wire is single phase and 3 wire is ....3 phase:eek2: what voltage? always go to ground off each leg from the top 115V its 203/208 single phase on tag...277V to ground it is still called single phase and be 460/480 on tag.3 wires on the top of the disconnect feed in from the pole you read 208/230 between L1-L2-L3 and 115V still to ground.on 460/480 same numbers across between legs and then again 277V to ground
