Contractor did heat load calc today and now I have to choose a system.

Choice is between 5 ton Carrier Comfort 24ACB7 with Edge non-communicating stat vs the Bryant Preferred 167A (equivalent to the Carrier Performance series) with Evolution communicating stat. Both have humidity control.

Aside from communication between the stat and A/H only, the only significant difference I see is that the Bryant 167A also has a compressor blanket. Both are 17 SEER and 13.4 EER and qualify for the tax credit.

Is it worth spending the extra $600 to get the higher model? Will the communicating system result in any cost savings during the period of ownership?

Thanks to all on this great forum.

Same exact unit. I would go with the EVO control. The EVO control can do a lot more for you.

I am not comparing identical units. I am comparing a Carrier product with the model above it in Bryant rather than Carrier. Same as deciding on Carrier Comfort vs. Carrier Performance. Thanks.
