I recently had an air-air heat exchanger installed in my Minnesota home, and the installer told me to leave the setting on Auto - which basically runs the thing at a low volume nonstop. He also advised me to leave my furnace fan ON, so the air get circulated through the home. Is there a way I can tie the systems together with a single control device - that turns on the air exchanger when the thermostat turns on the furnace fan? I can provide more details as needed. I also just installed a 5 inch pleated filer and UV filtration system. Any advise on how to optimize this system is appreciated.

Have your contractor install a Honeywell IAQ thermostat. It can control your HRV and furnace blower.

I agree, I'd upgrade to IAQ t-stat. That way you are not "wasting" your heat all winter here in Minnesota.
