Sure. I'm SURE it will work...
Of course, you can't always trust us internet guys. We don't know anything about anything. Or maybe we know everything about nothing. Or maybe we know....
Make sure you put lots of superseal in it.

It could work. Even my wife could work. Then I wake up and realize she won't work and have to go to work myself :argue:

many compressors can indeed be used for that, but are derated. i used to think it couldnt, be found out i was wrong. the real question is performance at your evap temp, whatever that may be. a given compressor will be greatly dereated when compared to use at medium temp.

But don't believe me - check the capacity curves for both compressors. "Air Conditioning" compressors are typically rated and curved down to a +20 suction.
Which is "medium temp" range. <g>
It's the same compressor.

Some a/c compressors are used for refrigeration as well The same 2 ton a/c compressor may be o.k for a small w.i cooler. You must know the btus of the evap coil and get a compressor that will give you that btu rating at a 20-25 degree coil. Many R-22 compressors are used for both a/c and refrigeration.Of course the compressor will put out less btus at med temp than high temp.Check capacities with your wholesaler.Get a good match with coil btus and compressors btus.

I am assuming you are using R22 freon, if that is true, then I think its ok. I've seen plenty of medium temp condensing unit come out of factory with Ac compressor. it work fine.

Its rating is determined at application suction temp. Without #'s we are all guessing.

i hope those four forty horse bitzers we just put in on a rack to produce 76 tons of refrigeration dont find out they are misapplied and stop working. that would cost me too much to fix.

Well at the risk of seeming a poor comedian: Uhhh what?
Thats kind of an opening question we all like. And as you can see since so many things are left blank and the information we would have to have so vast to give an accurate or honest opinion you get the kind of general answers that will fit your question. And Im sure al lof us here would agree, you need someone you can truly trust to answer this. Someone with experience or at least technical training, and a license would be a plus. The supply house guys may know or maybe not. Maybe they assume you know or you have some one you trust that knows. Or maybe not.
Ya know? Not trying to come across as a smart rear, but really too many unknown items to tell you much.
